Derby Night at 4th Street Live was the place to be. Most of the people that ventured out to Fourth Street Live on Derby night came straight from the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs. If you’ve never been to Derby, people tend to drink a lot. The drinking and drunkenness carried over to the party at 4th Street! Drunks were never a problem. If they were, 4th Street Live has tons of security to squash any issues. Louisville DJ Sam Sneed entertained guests on street level while other various DJ’s played music in the properties bars and nightclubs. Fourth Street Live wanted lots of photos of people having a good time. We call them “grip and Grin” shots. Small groups posing for the camera. Yeah, that’s a technical term! Photographing people Derby night at 4th Street Live was like shooting fish in a barrel.

The amazing new Lumix S1 camera and 24-105 F4 lens were used for all of the pics in this blog post. I flashed everyone with a Godox 860II flash with the round head adapter, handheld. Camera in my right hand and flash in my left. Flashpoint R2 Pro Mark II transmitter was used on camera to control the TTL flash via radio frequency.
